Harald Klitgaard

Type: Steamship
Date of loss: 06/06/1917
Depth (seabed): 66m
SS Harald Klitgaard, built by Richardson, Duck & Co, Stockton in 1884 and owned at the time of her loss by Dansk Russiske Dampsk. The Danish steamer was 1799 tons. On a voyage from Copenhagen to Seaham Harbour in ballast, she was sunk by the German submarine UC-77, while in a convoy 28 miles north of Farne Island. 1 person was lost. We dived this wreck in 2008 and recovered a small part of a dinner plate the crest suggested it may be the Harald Klitgaard.
