The 1744 gross ton steamship Island: formerly the Royal Yacht of Denmark. Bound from Reykjavik to Leith, ran aground on the east side of Isle of May in thick fog. The wreck is broken up and scattered between South Ness and Island Rocks. The bows are visible 12 metres up on the cliffs, the remainder in 13 metres depth with wreckage 3 metres above the seabed. The seabed is a mixture of rock and sand.
